What Are the Advantages of custom reticles？

Oh.. I don't know if this is considered ''hacking''.
it isn't.. but anyways..
I find using custom crosshairs for your weapons VERY HELPFUL.
NS and CS default crosshairs (the little yellow tick crap) are horrid!
I consider custom crosshairs as legal as changing key binds or video settings. regardless of what any server admin says

They helped me immensely. Not just in aim , but all of a sudden the muzzle flash doesn't cover your crosshair , holy crap , I can SEE!

Every weapon has a .txt file , in the NS\sprites folder.
This is what you edit to change the crosshair sprite..
For example , LMG "weapon_machinegun.txt"
Inside this little text file is where your crosshairs offsets, sprite name , and other things are stored.

The line you edit to change the crosshair looks like this
crosshair 640 crosshair # # # #
Simple enough, huh?
the parts you edit are near the end, the sprite file name is the 2nd 'crosshair'
Those numbers set the crosshairs offset, you will see a set of numbers for each crosshair (at sites you get them from). whichever crosshair you select has its own offset make sure you write those down
anyways, you put the crosshair .spr file into the sprite directory with this.txt
then edit it as follows
crosshair 640 OpenCircleRed 0 0 256 256
Where OpencircleRed is your crosshair file and the numbers are the offsets for this crosshair.

You have to do this process for every weapon.txt you want to use the crosshair for.
So you just repeat the above steps for
weapon_heavymachinegun.txt
weapon_grenadegun.txt
pistol
shotgun..

you get the idea..
anyways, I know this is probably the wrong forum area for this post.. but custom crosshairs mostly help marines... not so much for the aliens. (they don't have muzzle flashes covering their center)
I hope this helps people, they helped me immensely.
